Over the coming weeks, we now know that it is likely that there will be a huge rise in the number of cases of COVID 19 and the government have now introduced stringent measures to prevent the loss of life and reduce the impact on our national health service over the coming months.
As a practice, we must contribute to our society to prevent and minimise the spread of the virus. We must also do our best to protect our own team so we can continue to look after your pets when they, and you, need us most. We all now know that our actions over the coming weeks will dictate how many vulnerable people will be affected by COVID19.
Due to this, veterinary practices in the UK have been advised to minimise the number of clients coming into a veterinary practice. This means that over the next few weeks and perhaps months, we will all have to drastically change the way in which we offer our normal services. We would like to reassure you that we will ALWAYS be on hand for advice. We have increased the range of ways in which you can obtain veterinary advice and medication. Please look at on our website and we urge you to utilise these additional services as much as possible. It has been nationally advised that all veterinary clinics temporarily stop all non urgent treatment for the time being.
This list includes, but is not exhaustive
Booster vaccinations - These can be delayed for up to 15 months according to the manufacturers recommendations. Vaccinations are vital to protect our pets and we will make a case by case decision on when we need to vaccinate your pet.
Nail clips- unless nails are becoming ingrown or causing discomfort this service will be stopped temporarily.
Anal glands- unless causing discomfort or pain.
Routine neutering procedures - The team can advise you on this to make a sensible decision of whether this is required.
Medicine checks - We will carefully look at your pet’s condition and decide on a case by case basis the best course of action
Weight checks and Chub Club - unless there is a specific reason for us to recheck your pets weight, we will be temporarily preventing access to the practice for this. Our team can advise you whether this is necessary or not over the phone/email.
Flea and worm applications - We will shortly be uploading some useful instruction clips on how to administer flea and worming treatment to your pet.
We will absolutely do our very best to continue the level of service which we have worked so hard to provide over the past four years but it is inevitable that things are going to change for a while. My team are the heart of Love Street and It is my duty as leader to keep them as safe as I possibly can in these difficult times. I am determined that our wee practice can survive this and come out stronger than ever!!
As always, if you are unsure whether your pet needs veterinary treatment, please do not hesitate to call us at the practice on 0141 889 3010.
